Design and Display

The Redmi A5 4G has a large 6.88-inch IPS LCD display with a 120 Hz refresh rate, making scrolling and animations feel smoother than older 60 Hz screens. The screen uses an HD+ resolution (720 × 1640 pixels), which isn’t as sharp as some mid-range phones, but still works well for videos, browsing, and social media. Its size and flat-edge design give it a modern look, with multiple color options like black, blue, green or silver. The phone feels lightweight (around 193 g) and fairly slim (about 8.26 mm), helping it feel comfortable in everyday use.

The display’s smooth 120 Hz rate makes rapid scrolling through apps more pleasant and helps casual gaming look a bit more fluid. While the colour quality and brightness may not match premium phones, this screen is impressive for a device in its price category. It also includes eye-comfort certifications designed to reduce strain with long use.

Performance and Hardware

Under the hood, the Redmi A5 4G runs on a Unisoc T7250 octa-core processor, which is built on a 12 nm process and suited for everyday tasks like messaging, browsing, watching videos, and light multitasking. You can find configurations with 3 GB, 4 GB or 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB or 128 GB of internal storage, all expandable up to 1 TB via a microSD card thanks to a dedicated slot.

This setup isn’t designed for heavy gaming or intensive creative apps, but it handles common activities smoothly. Some models also offer extended (virtual) RAM that uses part of the internal storage to slightly improve multitasking performance.

 Camera Capabilities

The camera system on the Redmi A5 4G is simple but practical for daily snapshots. It features a 32 MP main rear camera paired with a smaller auxiliary lens, which can capture decent photos in good lighting and record 1080p video at 30 fps. The 8 MP front camera with HDR works well for selfies and video calls.

While this camera setup won’t rival flagship phones, it’s reliable for social media pics, documenting everyday moments, and quick video calls. In bright conditions, it produces images with good detail; low-light performance is generally limited, as expected for an entry-level phone.

 Software and User Interface

The Redmi A5 4G runs Android 15 (Go edition) with Xiaomi’s HyperOS on top. Android Go is a lightweight version of Android tailored to entry-level devices — it’s optimized to make the most of the phone’s hardware while keeping the interface smooth for everyday tasks.

HyperOS adds Xiaomi-specific features like easy multitasking tools, system customization, and smooth navigation gestures. Xiaomi also typically provides two years of major Android upgrades and security updates for this model, so it stays useful longer.
